First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit – Deadline Looms!
To qualify you must close on your new home by November 30th, so the clock is ticking! It’s taking on average of 45 to 60 days from contract to close right now, so buyers will want to have a contract on a home by the end of September to realistically be able to take advantage of this tax credit. This could be the opportunity of a lifetime!

How this works is if you have not owned a home in the past 3 years, you may qualify to get back 10% of the purchase price of your new home, to a maximum of $8,000. That means if you purchase a home for $80,000 you could get a tax credit of $8,000 when you file your taxes! Also, this money does not have to be paid back as long as you stay in your new home for at least 3 years. Now that’s a great deal!
